Wave Facade Revit Massing
Exploring organic form generation using Revit's conceptual massing environment to create a fluid, undulating wave facade.
Key Techniques
Spline Manipulation
Controlling geometry through points and splines to define the wave profile.
Surface Division
Utilizing the UV grid system to rationalize complex curvature into buildable panels.
In-Place Massing
Creating context-aware geometry directly within the project environment.

Project Overview
The "Wave Facade" project is an exercise in freeing architectural form from the rigidity of the grid. By leveraging Revit's Conceptual Massing environment, we can define fluid, organic shapes that respond to their environment.
Methodology: The core of this technique lies in the manipulation of reference splines. By hosting points on reference lines and driving them with parameters, we create a flexible skeleton that skins can be lofted across.
Key Benefits:
- Design Flexibility: Rapidly iterate on form variations by simply dragging control points.
- Rationalization: Automatically divide the complex surface into rational panels for fabrication analysis.
- Integration: Seamlessly convert the conceptual mass into native Revit walls, curtain systems, and floors.
This workflow demonstrates that Revit is not just a documentation tool, but a powerful engine for design exploration and complex form-finding.
