Modify panel

What it does

The deepest tool in the Modify panel: a face becomes a grid, and every segment can be reshaped in 2D, extruded in 3D, and then varied across the surface.

Capabilities

Segment pattern

Squares, Triangles, Diamonds or Hexagons; Across (1–40) × Down (1–40) grid, per-segment Offset (cm), and Trim at edges.

Outline — 2D per segment

Scale each segment (0.1–1.0), Inset (cm), Rotate (−90…90°) and Smooth corner rounding.

Extrude

Depth (cm), cap style Straight / Bevel / Collapse-to-a-point, Bevel (cm), Tilt out (−60…60°) and Push inward.

Detail

Base chamfer (width and height in cm), Leave gaps which drops a fraction of segments, and One element to merge the output.

Variation

None, Fade from a point (9 origin options with a Pinch falloff curve) or Random (seeded). An Amount strength plus channel switches choose which of Depth / Size / Rotation / Tilt the variation drives.

Preview

Live preview; the action button relabels Create ↔ Create Lines depending on whether Extrude is on.
